When do the tenancies start?
For 2018-19, we are taking arrival start dates from 15th and 22nd September, generally a week before University starts, to enable student to settle in a make new friends.
How long are the tenancies at Carr Mills?
Tenancies run for a period of 42 weeks with summer lets available.
What are the rents?
£102 a week based on a 42 week contract
How much do I pay as a deposit?
We do not require a deposit. We charge a one-off payment of £95.00 for a room reservation; this covers the internet cost for the year, personal contents insurance, admin fees and minor damages. Only major damages will incur any charge once you vacate. Please note that the reservation fee is non-refundable and cannot be paid back if for any reason you are unable to take your room.
Is internet included?
Internet is all part of the all-inclusive deal we offer
Who deals with on-site maintenance issues and complaints?
We have a dedicated maintenance email address for this purpose, all maintenance issues should be reported as soon as possible where we can prioritise works.
How do I reserve a room?
Application forms can be downloaded from this web page or can be sent via email or post. Alternatively call 0113 262 0102 to talk to one of the office staff, details can be given and taken via a friendly phone call.
Once I book, what happens next?
Once an application form is completed and the fee is processed, a contract will be sent out to you relating to the terms and conditions of tenancy. After this has been read and fully understood, we ask that you and, if applicable, your guarantor complete all relevant pages and return them to us to allow us to complete your application. Tenancy start dates are fixed to allow us to clean and perform any maintenance. Dates for rent payment are included in the contract, and tenants are liable to pay from the dates stated.
Do you have en-suite rooms?
All our rooms have the luxury of being en-suite providing your own personal space and privacy.
Are all bills included?
All bills are included, each room has its own electric panel heater to allow you to control the temperature of your own room, a TV is provided in the communal lounge area and a TV license for this room has been pre-paid. Please note any extra TVs you bring in will need a separate TV license in your own name purchase and registered to yourself individually.
What do I need to bring?
All personal belongings need to be brought by the tenants. We do not provide bedding, and this will need to be purchased. We recommend against bringing too many kitchen items and instead waiting until you arrive, then deciding what needs buying and purchasing locally as a flat.
Is parking available?
Parking is available on-site, with a payment of £100 payable for the parking fob to access the security gates, a £50 refund will be issued on return of a fully working fob. A permit to park will then be issued which must be displayed at all times on site. Visitors can purchase a 24 hour pass for £2 which can be pre-purchased over the phone and payable only by card.
How do we do our washing?
Our laundry room is located opposite the site office and equipped with Circuit-enabled cashless washers and dryers. This means no more searching for 20ps to put a wash on, and no worries about waking up flatmates with late-night laundry!
What about security?
Carr Mills is a secure gated accommodation complex with 24-hour CCTV and a 24-hour security presence, we run patrols covering the whole site inside and out for added confidence of security on our site. We have a direct security number given to all tenants in case of any issues so that we can respond to events quickly.
Do I get a discount for paying in full?
Yes – if the full 42 weeks’ rent amount is paid in full before arrival, a 5% discount is applied.
Am I going to have a good time at Carr Mills?
Everybody’s student experience is different, but here at Carr Mills we aim to maintain a sense of community amongst our residents. We’re in a prime location near Meanwood – enjoying the best of both words, with universities, shops and the city in easy reach and cycle trails, nature walks and green spaces along the Valley Trail and in Meanwood Park. Our friendly team are on-site daily to help resolve any issues respectfully and promptly, and we hold events throughout the year so that students can interact and meet each other. Many students choose Carr Mills for the duration of their course – we hope this is the case and look forward to seeing you on site for years to come!
